Herts perform strongly at Racketball Masters Inter-Counties!
On the weekend of 18th/19th April, 100 players from 20 county teams converged at Berkhamsted club for the 2026 Racketball Masters Inter-County Championships (O40s, O50s, O60s), with Herts featuring strongly in each age group.
It was an excellent event, with the sun shining and the club throwing open its doors onto the terrace for a highly social and engaging two days, and some of the best racketballers in the country giving their all on court but in that more relaxed racketball mindset.
As happens in Masters sport, injuries robbed us of a number of players and led to some 11th hour team changes, but we somehow managed to put players on court for every match.
Our standout performers were the O40s who finished in the silver medal spot, runners-up to all-conquering Shropshire who performed the amazing feat of winning all three ago groups! Racketball seems to have become the ‘national’ sport of Shropshire!
Our O50s also did brilliantly, with only a narrow loss to Warwickshire seeing them miss out on playing Shropshire in the final.
And our O60s were valiant performers! By necessity due to various players with crocked knees, they were pretty much a Berko team, a couple of them making their debut in team racketball, but all of them securing wins over the weekend. They can now say they are the 6th best county team in the country. (Yes, there were more than 6 counties competing!)
Congratulations and thank-you to all the following players who represented Herts:
