From ENGLAND SQUASH
Clubs and venues to close this Thursday pending Parliamentary vote
Dear clubs, venues, coaches and counties,
Following the UK Government’s proposal to introduce a four-week national lockdown, squash clubs and venues should prepare to close from this Thursday, 5 November to Wednesday, 2 December inclusive.
Please note, these lockdown measures are dependent upon a House of Commons vote this Wednesday, 4 November and should it pass, squash clubs and venues are likely to be ordered to close from Thursday. We will continue to seek advice from Sport England, DCMS and other partners, and will be in touch on Wednesday with guidance on the actions your club/venue should take.
Bounce Back support
We know that the next month will be a challenging time, and we’re working on extending our club support package, including Bounce Back grants and webinars, to help clubs and venues navigate the challenge ahead. Please look out for further information in the coming days.
Affiliation fee freeze extended until April 2021
As part of our ongoing commitment to support affiliated clubs and members during this challenging period and to help relieve the financial pressure on your club, we’ve extended the freeze on all England Squash membership and affiliation renewals until 1 April 2021. As before, all membership/affiliation benefits remain available to you including insurance, Squash Perks and our popular video content.
Grants for coaches
We’re aware that these closures will significantly impact coaches, many of whom are self-employed. The Government’s Self-Employment Income Support Scheme Grant Extension provides support to the self-employed in the form of two grants, each available for three month periods covering November 2020 to January 2021 and February 2021 to April 2021. To see if you are eligible and how to claim, visit Gov.uk.
