The team, having beaten Essex 5-0 at a previous weekend, travelled to the RAC Club in Epsom for the last two matches, Middlesex having pulled out of the competition. A very classy venue for our matches, having to walk through a very plush hotel with our squash bags and then across the lawns to the squash courts. The team was Louisa Dalwood, Maureen Morrison, Isobel Smith, Sheila Blake, Libby Montgomery and Laura Taylor.
The first match was against Sussex and was a fairly comfortable 5-0 win. Everyone playing well and Louisa beating an adversary from her junior days, sweet revenge!
The second match was a different kettle of fish against Surrey who had a very strong team out and they were still missing their No.3. Isobel went on court against a very accurate opponent and lost 3-0. Libby at No.5 played a great game and beating her opponent 3-1. Next on Sheila made a good start winning the first game but unfortunately ended up losing 3-1. Louisa at No.1 had to play the current National O40 Champion and put on a great performance but was powered off the court 3-0. Maureen again had a difficult game at No.2 against an experienced and accurate opponent losing 3-0. Therefore a 4-1 loss. Still a great performance by all; the team are growing in confidence and hopefully will get to the finals next year.
