Herts teams star at Racketball Masters Inter-Counties
Well, we didn’t finish last!
This past weekend, 4 Herts teams competed in the 2025 Racketball Masters Inter-County Championships. Two in the O40s, one in the O50s and one in the O60s.
It was a brilliant event, superbly organised and run by UK Racketball / Mike Harris, with 100 players from 18 county teams.
Going into the weekend had been pretty chaotic for all the Herts teams, with late injuries, partially conflicting diary commitments, and even a missed flight home on the eve of the tournament. But we somehow managed to put players on court for every match and be in there competing well against the best racketballers in the country including a number of national champions.
Our standout performers were the O40s B team (surpassing their A team colleagues!) and the O50s, both of whom narrowly missed out on medals, losing in the 3rd/4th play-offs.
Also unlucky were the O60s, who beat the eventual winners in their opening group stage match but then missed out from top spot in the group by 2 points after losing a couple of their top order players.
Congratulations to all the following, mostly from Berkhamsted, Bishops Stortford, Broxbourne and Tring, the main racketball-playing clubs in Herts.#
