On the weekend of 11th/12th May, 100 players from 18 county teams converged at the Berkhamsted club for the 2024 Racketball Masters Inter-Counties Championships (O40s, O50s, O60s).
Herts had 4 teams competing (2 in the O40s). Each fixture comprised 3 singles matches and 1 doubles match.
It was a brilliant event, excellently organised by UK Racketball and supported by Karakal. The best weather of the year so far allowed the club to open its doors and the players to enjoy the sunshine outside with a few cold ones once they’d finished playing for the day.
On court, Herts had an excellent weekend and were only narrowly kept off the winner’s spot in all 3 competitions by the standout performances of some of the national racketball champions playing for other counties, including former squash pro Neil Frankland.
Herts were runners-up in both the O40s and O50s, and 3rd in the O60s having finished joint top but knocked back on game countback.
The 2025 tournament is already booked for a return to Berko in May next year!
