The Herts Closed 2019 was back at Radlett Squash Club this year, great venue and thanks to everyone at Radlett for making us so welcome. The courts, newly refurbished and lovely new floors all made for a great playing experience for the competitors.
We had a good increase in entries this year spread out over the different competitions and I’m very pleased to say that we added Racketball to the list of categories. Although only seven entrants, this proved a great addition to the Herts Closed and I believe many people will be trying out racketball after watching the matches this weekend. Some regular attendees to the tournament were not about this year but we had lots of new faces around which was encouraging to see. Hopefully they will all be back next year. On a sad note, one of our regular players, Mike Moore, a member of Radlett, always first to enter the competition died very suddenly in September and our sympathies go out to his family.
There were still a few withdrawals and injuries throughout the weekend but this didn’t dampen the mood and there we some very competitive matches. Thanks to everyone who entered the event and made it such a great weekend of squash.
